Study Group – Researchers

A study group for researchers takes place within the Institute's activities. The group gathers once a week for a joint study of formative books in Jewish Law.


In 2016/17, the group studies the writings of Rabbi Menachem Meiri and his circle.

In 2015/16, the group studied the Ramban’s writings.

Opening lecture (22/10/15):   Prof. Haviva pedaya, The Ramban: a Spiritual Leader’s Portrait: Text, Culture and History

Closing lecture (16/6/16):      Dr. Oded Yisraeli, The Ramban’s Legal-Halakhic View in its Kabbalist Context.

 

In 2014/15, the group studied Rav Sherira Gaon’s Letter

Opening lecture (2/6/15):       Prof. Yerachmiel Brody, An Introduction to Rav Sherira Gaon’s Letter

Closing Lecture (30/6/15):     Prof. David Weiss Halivni, The Talmud’s Perception as Reflected in Rav Sherira Gaon’s Letter

 

In 2012/13, the group studied Maimonides’ The Guide for the Perplexed.

In 2011/12, the group studied Rav Hertzog’s book The Main Institutions of Jewish Law.

In 2010/11, the group studied Maimonides’ Book of Commandments (Sefer Hamitzvot).
